De Sanctis organic farm

Passionate winemakers since 1816

Our organic farm, De Sanctis, was founded in Frascati, where Lake Regillo once stood. The ancient volcanic soil characterizes the splendid panorama enjoyed by our farm, nestled among olive groves and vineyards. We love promoting the authenticity of our products and the goodness of our land.

The company has been run by a family of winemakers since 1816. Luigi De Sanctis, together with his wife Daniela and his sons Andrea and Francesco, the company's oenologist, has been able to interpret the wisdom of the Lazio winemaking tradition, leading the company forward with dedication and passion for wine.

Today, we work following organic farming methods, drawing on centuries of experience and an inimitable passion for wine.

A story passed down from generation to generation

The beginning of a passion

One of the first official records of our winemaking family dates back to February 1, 1816, when Filippo De Sanctis bequeathed his property to his children. It concerned "the useful domain, or aboveground, of two vineyards, one located in Frascati, or in the Agro Romano, in the district known as San Matteo, and the other in the territory of Grottaferrata, in the district known as La Pedica."

From this first testimony, a story rich in inspiration and passion for wine begins. Our company's commitment has also overcome the challenges of the 1970s, when numerous hectares of land were expropriated from the De Sanctis family for the construction of the Tor Vergata university campus.

2009, a new beginning

The rebirth of the company and the study of the brand

Our passion for wine and agriculture, however, allowed us to restart with energy and dynamism. Luigi and his family chose to reopen our winery's cellar in 2009.

From that moment, the history of our business begins again and acquires new energy.

The area's winemaking vocation, evidenced since the Roman and Etruscan eras, has allowed us to fully showcase the excellence that distinguishes our land. We have chosen to produce organic wines to improve the quality of our products.

Battle of Lake Regillus

The approximately 31 hectares of land cultivated by the De Sanctis company are located in the foothills of Pietra Porzia, a few kilometers from Rome.

The area is so named because, in ancient times, it was inhabited by the "Gens Portia." In 496 BC, the Battle of Lake Regillus was fought on this soil between the Romans and the Latin League.

A brand that recalls the legend

During the battle, two young warriors appeared, astride two white horses: according to legend, these two brave men enabled the Romans to defeat the Latin League. The two youths were the Dioscuri twins, Castor and Pollux, the sons of Jupiter.

Our brand pays homage to this legend, depicting the embrace of the two brave twins, a symbol of strength and authenticity.
