PASSIONATE WINEGROWERS SINCE 1816

Azienda Biologica De Sanctis was established in Frascati, where Lake Regillo once stood. The ancient volcanic earth characterises the splendid panorama enjoyed by our company, immersed in olive groves and vineyards. We love to emphasise the authenticity of our products and the goodness of our land.

The company has been run by a family of winegrowers since 1816. Luigi De Sanctis, together with his wife and sons Andrea and Francesco, founded the company of which he is currently an oenologist. The owner has been able to interpret the wisdom of Lazio's winemaking tradition, running the company with dedication and passion for wine.

Today, we work according to organic farming methods, backed by centuries of experience and an inimitable passion for wine.

A HISTORY HANDED DOWN FROM GENERATION TO GENERATION

The beginning of a passion

One of the earliest official records of our winegrowing family dates back to 1 February 1816, when Filippo De Sanctis left his property to his sons. This was "the useful domain, i.e. the overland of two vineyard plots, one in Frascati, i.e. in the Agro Romano, in the district known as San Matteo, and the other in the territory of Grottaferrata in the district known as La Pedica".

From this first testimony, a story full of fascination and passion for wine began. Our company's commitment was also able to overcome the challenges that arose in the 1970s when numerous hectares of land were expropriated from the De Sanctis family due to the construction of the university campus at Tor Vergata.

2009, A NEW BEGINNING

The rebirth of the company and the brand design

However, our passion for wine and agriculture allowed us to start again with energy and dynamism. Luigi and his family chose to reactivate the cellar of our winery in 2009.

From that moment on, the story of our activity began again and gained new energy.

The area's wine vocation, witnessed since Roman and Etruscan times, has allowed us to make the most of the excellence that distinguishes our land. We have chosen to produce organic wines to improve the quality of our products.

Battle of Regillo Lake

The approximately 31 hectares of land cultivated by the De Sanctis company are located in the foothills of Pietra Porzia, a few kilometres from Rome.

The area is so named because, in ancient times, it was inhabited by the "Gens Portia". In 496 B.C., the Battle of Lake Regillo was fought on this ground between the Romans and the Latin League.

A brand that recalls the legend

During the battle, two young warriors appeared, riding two white horses. According to legend, these two valiant men enabled the Romans to win over the Latin League. The two young men were the twin Dioscuri, or Castor and Pollux, the sons of Jupiter.

Our brand pays homage to this legend by depicting the embrace of the two valiant twins, a symbol of strength and authenticity.
